Course Description: The "Drugs of Choice" class is geared toward providing the attendee with a working knowledge of how various illicit narcotics chemically affects the brain and body, as well as provides the student with the ability to recognize these illicit drugs or their users through various origins and description, through their effects on the user, as well as through common paraphernalia associated with illicit drug abuse. The instructor utilizes a PowerPoint-type presentation that contains bulleted information as well as videos and pictures containing images of illicit drug users, symptoms of illicit drug use as well as paraphernalia that is utilized to use the various drugs. The learning objectives of the class are as follows:
This course also addresses the areas of community involvement as well as treatment options that are being used to combat addiction in our local areas.
